R.G.M. College Students Union is a body comprises with general students of the college and all the regular students constitute electoral college of the union body. The office bearers of the union body are elected annually through an election process. The Hon’ble supreme court of India as per recommendation of the committee (Chaired by J.M. Lyndoh, RTetd CEC) has framed some guidelines for election of union body in colleges and universities which are summarily mentioned below.
- The election for the union body will be held in schedule time.
- Only regular and full time students of the college are eligible for contesting the election of union body.
- The time stipulated for completion of election process should not exceed 10 days.
- Students must attain the age of between 17 to 22 yrs. to contest election.
- The students to contest election should minimum 75% attendance in class.
- The expenditure of a student in the election restricted upto Rs. 5000/(Five thousand) only. or as per supreme court of India’s verdict.
- The use of printed papers, pamphlets, Loudspeaker, Vehicles for the purpose of canvassing shall be prohibited.
- The students having any academic arrear in the year of contesting is not eligible for candidature.
